Venla's last name loosely translates to "flame spirit" which is a family name of Sulaveri who typically work in the Firebellows' Circle as the metalsmiths of the Sulaveri. Venla ran off and became Horsemaster though, unfortunately for any rivals who meet her on the Plains.
